Alongside my work, family life and property projects, travelling is part of who I am. If I could, I would visit every country in the world—not simply to tick them off a list, but to explore and experience them in my own way.
I currently have property projects in Switzerland, Spain and South Africa. I also have a plan to find and buy a farm before I turn 50.
That sounds like enough to keep me occupied. It is.
Finding beauty in the dust
I have always enjoyed fashion, beautiful surroundings and taking care of how I present myself. But that has never stopped me from getting involved in the less glamorous side of life.
Renovation is rarely polished. It means dust, unfinished rooms, difficult decisions and problems that have to be solved as they appear. I enjoy the challenge—and the satisfaction of seeing something neglected become a place worth caring about.
People sometimes make assumptions based on appearances. But my nails don’t tell you what I’m capable of. 😂
I also function best when things are organised. Clutter makes it difficult for me to think clearly, so living through renovation can test me. Perhaps that is also why I enjoy creating order from the chaos.
No need to choose
I don’t see a contradiction between enjoying luxury and getting involved in the messy, physical process of creating something. These aren’t separate versions of me. They’re all me.
A place can be worth visiting without being a place to buy
Travel and property sometimes overlap for me. I can enjoy a destination and start wondering what life there would look like.
But enjoying somewhere and wanting to own a property there are two different things.
Sometimes I look further. Sometimes I decide it is not for me. And sometimes I just want to enjoy being there without turning the trip into another project.
There is nothing wrong with that last option. I probably need to remind myself of it occasionally.
What I’ll share here
I don’t want this blog to become only about the next renovation, the next problem to solve or the next set of numbers.
Travel belongs here too. So does sailing—and the quieter parts of life that have absolutely nothing to do with buying anything. I’ll share the places I visit, time by the water, moments between projects, what I genuinely enjoyed and what surprised me.
The property lessons have their own place on this website. Here, there is room to be curious without needing a spreadsheet at the end of it.
Welcome to my space—dust, diamonds and everything in between.
Where is the one place you would happily go back to? I’d love to hear.
